Protective Masks Production Process

1. Raw Material Preparation

Main Materials:

  • Outer Layer (Non-woven Fabric): Water-resistant and blocks droplets.
  • Middle Layer (Melt-blown Fabric): Core filtering layer to trap bacteria and viruses.
  • Inner Layer (Non-woven Fabric): Skin-friendly and moisture-absorbing.
  • Nose Clip: Plastic or metal wire for shape retention.
  • Ear Loops: Elastic bands (usually spandex or polypropylene).

Auxiliary Materials:

  • Printed labels, logos
  • Packaging materials (PE bags, boxes, cartons)

🔹 2. Mask Body Production

2.1 Material Lamination:

  • Three layers (outer + melt-blown + inner) are bonded using heat or ultrasonic welding.
  • Automatically cut into mask body shape.

2.2 Nose Clip Insertion:

  • Nose strip inserted at the top, fixed with ultrasonic welding or heat sealing.

2.3 Ear Loop Welding:

  • Ear loops are attached on both sides using ultrasonic welding (either automatic or manual).

2.4 Folding & Shaping (for N95/KN95 masks):

  • Masks like N95 or fish-shape are folded and pressed into shape using a forming machine.

2.5 Sterilization (for medical masks):

  • Masks are sterilized via ethylene oxide (EO) or high-temperature disinfection.

🔹 3. Quality Inspection

3.1 Visual Inspection:

  • Check for stains, deformities, or improper welding.

3.2 Dimensional Inspection:

  • Ensure the size meets standard specifications.

3.3 Filtration Efficiency Testing:

  • Conduct BFE (Bacterial Filtration Efficiency) and PFE (Particle Filtration Efficiency) tests.

3.4 Breathing Resistance Testing:

  • Verify the airflow resistance to ensure comfortable breathing.

🔹 4. Packaging Process

4.1 Inner Packaging:

  • Masks are packed in individual or bulk units using automatic or manual sealing.

4.2 Carton Packing:

  • Inner packages are placed into cartons, labeled with batch numbers and date codes.

4.3 Storage & Shipping:

  • Masks are stored in a clean, dry warehouse and shipped according to FIFO (First In First Out) principle.

🔹 5. Certification & Standards (Optional)

  • CE (Europe)
  • FDA (USA)
  • ISO 13485 (Medical Devices Quality Management System)
  • GB/T 32610 (China – Daily Protective Masks)
  • GB 2626-2019 (China – KN95 Respirators)
